THE MISSION OF THE CHURCH

Image
TOPIC: THE MISSION OF THE CHURCH TEXT:  Matthew 28: 78-20 INTRODUCTION The church must discover her mission on earth and place that mission at the centre of all her plans and programs so we can fulfill our purpose of existence. In a strict sense, mission is an activity of God arising out of the very nature of God. He sent the prophets to Israel He sent His Son into the world He Son sent out the Apostles, then the seventy and afterwards the Church so the mission of the Church arises from the mission of God, and is to be modeled on it {John 17:18; 20: 27). if the Christian is to understand his mission on earth, he must understand Christ's mission. First, He sends us into the world, for He was sent in to the world. Second, He came to seek, to show, to serve, to suffer, to sacrifice and to save {Luke 19: 70; 22:27," Mark 70:45). So must you, as a Christian, follow the model He has given us He sends you into the world to seek, to show, to serve, to suffer, to sacrifice

THE MYSTERY OF THE CROSS

Image
TOPIC: THE MYSTERY OF THE CROSS TEXT: John 12.23-33 MEMORY VERSE:   Behold, I shew you a mystery...(1 Cor. 15:513). CENTRAL TRUTH: The events that culminated in Christ's death on the Cross is revealed by God alone through His Spirit. INTRODUCTION The programme that brought about the cross of Calvary is God's way of satisfying the demands of His own nature. God made Jesus bear the punishment of our sins and take our guilt upon himself as our substitute (1 Pet. 2: 24). Jesus did something more than just covering sin but became our substitute taking our own place into Himself (2 Cor. 5: 21). The victory over sin. death and the power of Satan was not only worked by Him, it was delivered by Him. 1. JESUS OUR SIN-BEARER - Jn. 19:16, 17; Heb. 12:2; 1 Pet. 2:24. Jesus was actually made sin with our sin. Jesus did not become a sinner, i.e. He was not sinful. Jesus offered Himself up as a perfect sacrifice without spot or blemish (Heb. 9:14) for our sins. P.T. GROWING IN GRACE

Image
TOPIC: GROWING IN GRACE TEXT: 2 PETER 3:18 INTRODUCTION Growth in grace is the heart desire of every Christian. For every living organism, growth is very necessary. Biological scientists tell us that growth is one of the characteristics of living things. That means that any organism that does not grow is dead and not living. in the same vein, we are to grow in our new experience of salvation, because Christianity is a living experience. 1peter2:2; Hebrew 5:13; 12:5; 1John 2:12-14. The topic of our study presents us with two key words: “Growth and Grace". Therefore, to understand it properly we will consider the following: 1.  THE MEANING OF GROWTH -1 Samuel2z26; Lk.2:40,52; 1Jn. 2:12-14; 1Cor.13:11; Eph.4:15. To grow means to develop, to improve, to progress, or to increase in size, height or length. To understand what is meant by “growing in grace”, the Bible likens the Christian life to the growth of two living organism a tree and a human being (Ps.92:12

MEMORY VERSE: Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us - 1 Corinthians 5:7 CENTRAL TRUTH: Jesus Christ is the perfect sacrifice for our sins. INTRODUCTION From the very beginning of creation, humanity has needed a redeemer. God promised Adam and Eve He would send a redeemer in the form of the seed of woman (Gen 3. 5). The New Testament boldly proclaims that Christ is the Redeemer. But the Old Testament also presents other pictures describing this Redeemer. The account of Israel's deliverance from Egypt and their celebration of the Passover is an Old Testament picture Christ as our Passover Lamb. Through the shedding of His blood Christ purchased our redemption. Just as the blood of the Passover Lamb saved the Israelite from God’s judgement on the firstborn of Egypt, Christ's blood saves us from God's judgment on sin. This lesson examines God's pl

INGREDIENTS OF CHRISTIAN GROWTH

TOPIC: INGREDIENTS OF CHRISTIAN GROWTH TEXT : I Peter 2:1-5; 2 Peter 3:18; Acts I:5-8; 3 John 2 MEMORY VERSE: As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the Word, that ye may grow thereby. 1 Peter 2:2 CENTRAL TRUTH: You have not exhausted heaven's store house just because you have been healed, delivered or slightly prospered. You have not yet received everything that heaven has to ofer just because of the little material and for spiritual blessings you have now received. Great blessings from above await you. Introduction The new birth experience which marks the beginning of one's spiritual life also brings one into God's rich and inexhaustible grace, spiritual and financial blessing. And we are expected to grow in the grace of God to maturity for enduring fruitful service. Many people remain childish in spiritual matters, mostly out of ignorance of the fact that the spiritual life is subject to growth just as the physical, such are unaware of the inex

KINGDOM PRINCIPLES

TOPIC: KINGDOM PRINCIPLES  TEXT: Mathew 5:1-16 MEMORY VERSE:   "Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for thy shall be filled" (Matt 5:6) CENTRAL TRUTH: God blesses those who understand and apply kingdom principle. INTRODUCTION Have you ever heard the statement "I would be happy if I had..." For many, this statement would be completed with things like a better car, bigger home, new clothes, more money, and so on. Yet these often bring added responsibility and burden, not a lasting happiness. A better car and bigger home mean higher payments. More money leads to an increase in spending, and clothes wear out and demand replacing. The things that seem to guarantee happiness often add more difficulty to life. "Happiness is not found in things", someone once said, "but in us". And true happiness cannot be found outside a life that is totally committed to Jesus Christ. This week's lesson presents th

ANSWER FOR MAN’S ANXIETY

TOPIC: ANSWER FOR MAN'S ANXIETY TEXT: Psalms 37:1-40 MEMORY VERSE: "Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass." Ps: 37:5 CENTRALTRUTH: Faith in God is the antidote for anxiety INTRODUCTION Have you ever asked the elderly what their most significant observation about life had been. Their answers would be fascinating. The host of experiences that a person has in a lifetime, particularly the difficult times, help form overarching statements about life. David looked back over his live and made an encouraging observation in Ps. 37:24, "though he (the good man) fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the Lord upholdeth him with His hands." Many become perplexed and anxious becaus the pressures of life. Sometimes even God's people are put to severe test. However, those who have walked the path of life with God have found Him faithful. Those who trust God and commit their ways to Him are never ashamed.

INFLUENCING OUR WORLD FOR CHRIST

MEMORY VERSE: Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven-Matt. 5:16 CENTRAL TRUTH: Every believer has both the privilege and responsibility to influence his world for Christ. INTRODUCTION Someone has observed that opportunities are a lot like millstones. The same millstone that can drown a person can also be used to grind corn. The evil influence, temptation, and moral pressure this world tries to exert over us as believers can destroy us if we succumb to them. But sin also reminds us that there is a world full of lost people, and this is where opportunity arises. We have been given the golden opportunity to influence that world for Christ. The presence of darkness simply expose the need for more light. Jesus, the Light of this dark world desperately needs, live
