TOPIC: HIS BLOOD THE NUMBER ONE LIFE SAVER

 TEXT: 1 John 1:7, Lev 17:11, Gen 4:10

AIMS: At the end of the lesson, students should be able to;
1. Define blood
2.  Ascertain the usefulness of blood
3. Tell the use of blood in old testament

INTRODUCTION

Red Cross many at times appeals for blood donors. They say blood is “the number one medicine for saving lives”. Encyclopedia refers to blood as the very stream of life without which life ceases”. A medical book tells us that blood carries the very breath of life (Oxygen) to every parts of the body while removing waste products such as carbon dioxide from every part of the body” these dramatic statements about the vital Importance of blood for sustaining human life are not only true for the medical profession, they also communicate a wonderful truth about gaining and sustaining spiritual life. The power is in the blood. The bible is not silent about the usefulness of blood. John tells us that “the blood of Jesus. .. purifies us from every sin 1 John l;7.

THE ISSUE OF BLOOD IN THE OLD AND NEW TESTAMENT - GEN 4:11, GEN 9:6 , GEN 17:11-14, GEN 3:7

The voice of your brothers’ blood cries out to me from the ground Gen 4:10. That is what God told guilty Cain right after he had murdered his brother Abel. This is the first time blood is mentioned in the bible. The first mentioned of blood in the scripture is significant indicator of the meaning it will have in subsequent passages. From the above passages: the verses have established six important principles from God’s word.
A.  Blood that is shed cries out to God
B.  When man’s blood is shed, it must be avenged
C. The life of the flesh is in the blood
D.  Man is not to eat blood
E.  Blood makes atonement for the soul
F.  Blood that is presented gives a powerful messages

IN THE BOOK OF EXODUS, BLOOD IS SEEN ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS;

1. The blood of the Passover Exo 12:13
2.  Blood was Vital to sacrifices: God commanded his people to bring Lev 2: 1-16, 6:14-23.

Heb 9:22 tells us according to the law almost all things are purified with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no remission. By one offering he has perfected forever those who are being sanctified Heb 10:1-4, 14. We have boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of our Lord Jesus Christ Heb 10:19. We have redemption through the precious blood of Christ without blemish and without spot. 1 Pet 1:18-1.
Conclusively, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from Wrath through him Rom 5:9. Our salvation and all God’s plans for the future are secured by that precious blood shed once for all on Calvary’s cross. It speaks better than the blood of Abel” Heb l2 .
