CHRISTIAN SERVICE (THE FIRE PROOF SERVICE)

TEXT: 1 Cor 3:13-15, Matt 9:9 AIMS: At the end of the lesson, students should be able to; ·          Explain the word ‘service’ ·          Realize that they were called to serve ·          Mark the necessary facts concerning service Every child of God is a servant. He was called by God to serve. ‘Service’ is defined as an act of help or skill that a person is able to offer. The Hebrew Equivalent of the word service is “ABODDE” which means work of any kind, act, bondage, bond-servant, labor, ministering, ministry, servile, servitude, tillage, use, work, wrought etc. these root words are interrelated, it implies to “help rendered”. By application, Christian’s service is a part of religious activities. Every child of God must find something to do in the house of God to enlarge His kingdom. CENTRAL TRUTH: Living In Christ inspires pure conduct and loving service. INTRODUCTION Do Christians have reason to celebrate life in Christ? Absolutely! Life in Christ begins by being adopted into God's family. We experience God's love lavished on us. We are given a hope that inspires us to purity and a love for others. yet if we claim to be children of God. we must prove it by a godly lifestyle and deeds of kindness. It is these very things pure conduct in obedience to God's commandments and love for others that are evidences of our living a life in Christ. The benefits of life in Christ are wonderful. We have confidence that God hears and answers our prayers. INTRODUCTION Have you ever heard the statement "I would be happy if I had..." For many, this statement would be completed with things like a better car, bigger home, new clothes, more money, and so on. Yet these often bring added responsibility and burden, not a lasting happiness. A better car and bigger home mean higher payments. More money leads to an increase in spending, and clothes wear out and demand replacing. The things that seem to guarantee happiness often add more difficulty to life. Ps: 37:5 CENTRALTRUTH: Faith in God is the antidote for anxiety INTRODUCTION Have you ever asked the elderly what their most significant observation about life had been. Their answers would be fascinating. The host of experiences that a person has in a lifetime, particularly the difficult times, help form overarching statements about life. David looked back over his live and made an encouraging observation in Ps. 37:24, "though he (the good man) fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the Lord upholdeth him with His hands." Many become perplexed and anxious becaus the pressures of life. Sometimes even God's people are put to severe test. However, those who have walked the path of life with God have found Him faithful. Those who trust God and commit their ways to Him are never ashamed.

The evil influence, temptation, and moral pressure this world tries to exert over us as believers can destroy us if we succumb to them. But sin also reminds us that there is a world full of lost people, and this is where opportunity arises. We have been given the golden opportunity to influence that world for Christ.
