WISDOM OF SELF -CONTROL

TEXT: James 3:1, 4:6 MEMORY VERSE: ”The wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy’  James 3:17 CENTRAL TRUTH: God ’s word requires believers to exercise self control INTRODUCTION Many people in today’s society have made seeking pleasure the goal of their lives. They feel this is their right. They will often ignore legal standards and strain close relationships in their efforts to fulfill their desires. The attitudes of the world can creep into the church. Believers sometimes lose their focus on the mission of the church to evangelize and disciple people and begin to act in a self-centered. When this happens, conflict, division, and ungodliness begin to destroy individuals and churches. This lesson reveals the importance of having self-control. For the believers self-control is not optional. God’s Word demands that believers allow the fruit

WISDOM OF HUMILITY

MEMORY VERSE : "Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord , and He shall lift you up" [James 4:10] CENTRAL TRUTH: God blesses those who humble themselves before Him. INTRODUCTION Humility is not a popular personality trait in today’s society. Many people equate humility with weakness. They believe that if someone wants to get ahead in this world, he or she needs to take charge and be a strong leader, no matter what it takes or who it hurts. Scripture, though, teaches differently. One can be a strong and successful leader and still be humble. Humility, then, is not weakness, but an honest realization of who one is and where one ’s strength comes from. "Humility" is a character trait that is to be manifested in Our relationship with God, in the way Witness and in the way we think about the treat others. Perhaps pride has replaced humility in some areas of our lives. As we look in this lesson, let us ask the Holy Spirit to examine our lives.
